Pics of my dual antenna setup

Post info/pics about your rigs that you use for stumbling!

Eyecannon Are you using two omnis with that card or a combination of amni and yagi?

Just looking at a twin ant card myself, it's only £45 and I realised I don't own a prism based card (I know, I am a snob). I REALLY want one, can't afford it though :-(

If you look at my pics, you will see one omni and one directional.

Thanks, I did see that ;)

I was simply wondering if this was the best use of two antennas. After all, the yagi will be very directional, and therfore the 10 - 20% gan you report will be produced by focusing on only a tiny area with increased power.

I was also wondering what happened when an AP was detected with both the omni and directional antennas. Surely this would skew yuor results?

thanks again,

I doubt it'll have a 32-bit PCMCIA slot, and USB is 32 bit, so you're probably out of luck there. I have an older laptop too (although not as old as this one) and it only has 16-bit slots. It was a huge pain just to find an 802.11b card for it, let alone USB, which is impossible to find.

Using both antennas, I get something like a huge donut with a cone sticking out from somewhere... works really well. It's not like I can tell which antenna picked it up.

As far as skewing maps, the mapping software takes all coords into account to give the best possible location of the center of the network that it can.

Yes, I learned this the hard way and have now RMA'd the card back to newegg. I am on the market for a PCMCIA serial card, but they are laughably expensive for a new one, and the ebay auctions get over $30 + $10 shipping routinely...

I think you're confused. I'm not asking who makes the laptop. I know the original thread starter's laptop is a Sager and its running linux. I'm just curious as to what mapping software the 6th poster (the post I referenced earlier) is using. ;)
