aircrack IVs / ipw2200

Postby henac » Thu Aug 18, 2005 11:45 pm

Hi,

I've encountered following situation. I've dumped about 1100000 IVs of a network. The key is ABABABABABABABABABABABABAB (=13 * "AB"). If I try to crack, the attack fails, even if I specify "aircrack -d ABABABABABABAB..". What's wrong? Could it be, that the problem is due to my network card I've dumped with, which is a ipw2200? I read something about not discarding corrupted packages.

Attention ipw2200 people: I just figured out that the problem lies in airodump/ipw2200. I can easily break the WEP key with aircrack when using the kismet dumps. Seems that kismet has a way to save dump files correctly. 128 Bit WEP within amazing 5 sec.

Please send me your .dump (Kismet) and .cap (airodump) files, and I'll have a look at it.

Another aircrack user encoutered the same problem exactly, and found a workaround: before starting airodump, run "iwconfig ethX key off".
