Nessus on BackTrack 2

Nessus on BackTrack 2

Postby theprez98 » Mon Apr 09, 2007 4:52 pm

The Remote Exploit forums have a decent howto to get Nessus to work with Backtrack 1, but there isn't much for BT2.

Has anyone gotten Nessus installed and working with BT2? If so what did you do to get it working?

Have not even tried but since I am a geographical bachelor for the next three weeks, I might give it a try.

Are you trying to get both server and client working or just the client?

I haven't tried anything yet. Just trying to get a feel for what people have done so far. I have only played with Nessus a tiny bit and that has been in Windows. I didn't realize Nessus wasn't part of BT2 until I read up and realized Tenable apparently didn't let them include it.

(on the other hand, the Metasploit and Milw0rm update scripts are just dandy...) ;)

Installing Nessus in BT2

Postby theprez98 » Tue May 22, 2007 7:23 pm

1. Download recompiled module here and copy to directory of your choice.
2. cd to said directory.
3.
Code: Select all
lzm2dir Nessus3+GuiClient4BT2.lzm /

Nessus (both command line and GUI version) is now installed, including under the Menus: Backtrack/Vulnerability Indetification/Securityscanner/Nessus
;)
