Snort and stumbling

Has any one used snort as a packet sniffer (or know if it will work) while stumbling?

Snort should work.

If you really need to sniff, use Ethereal.

Nah I've used ethereal, was just thinking a few things through that snort would be ideal for (ids wise)

Well, I'd like to be able to gather access point and client broadcasts passivly rather than use Netstumbler which sends broadcasts.

Perhaps a Snort IDS rule that detects Netstumbler?
