Windows Shares

Postby focusdchaos » Fri Aug 23, 2002 11:05 am

Anyone know of a program/script that can search a subnet for Windows shares, and mount them?

I am looking for to much with this? I am still new to *nix (I run freebsd).

Windows tool for NetBIOS shares

Postby Thorn » Fri Aug 23, 2002 11:18 am

xSharez NetBIOS scanner v 2.0.3.3 at http://www.tools-for.net

Very nice.

Don't know of any *nix tools though. I suppose you can do some checking on ports 137-139. Those are the NetBIOS ports.

There's Nbtscan aswell. I imagine it does the same sort of thing. Works well for me. But *nix? I also don't know.

A waste of a post? maybe.

I assume your looking for a *NIX tool to do this?

Check out samba it uses the same smb protocol suite that windows shares use. VERY EASY to configure and use.

There are several good here and here on the subject.

Also check here for web resources.

Any questions ask away.
