Wild wonderful wired wireless:

After a couple drives to gain my bearings with this new setup, I must say, it is in fact better than the ORiNOCO with a single antenna... about 10-20% better

Nice setup man, thanks for posting the pics. Have a lucent gold card same as that on the way off ebay.uk

The garmin etrex looks quite a nice unit , I too have a laptop with no rs232 ports and read a few posts on here about using the usb to serial adaptor which gives a com port that can be addressed by NS. seems to be working great for you.

might go and check out a few other rigs on the forum, have only previously looked at a few. one was the truck with about a 100 gauges which was pretty neat.

take it easy...paul

It's a Belkin Serial to PDA converter (F5U109) and it works great in winxp with the bundled drivers, and great in linux with the mct_u232 module.

Another project I have going on is resurrecting this old 486-DX4 75Mhz Thinkpad I have lying around... I have a 32MB SO-DIMM on the way to fortify the current 8MB it has, as well as a PCMCIA USB adapter so I can run the GPS on it. It's way smaller than my sager, and has sweet sweet Butterfly action.

The question is what are you going to do with it. As i remember, those only had like a 2 gig drive. Also it only has a type 1 card slot, which doesn't work with anything.

It's got 2GB and that is plenty... It's got 2 slots and I'm pretty sure it works with any 16-bit card... It's got win95 on it ATM and it detected my ORiNOCO just fine :p

EDIT: my Senao worked too :p :p

My bad, our 386 thinkpad (black and white) has a type 1 while our 486 has a type 2. HAHA, I got 64 MB ram :P

If you want a docking station, I got one, except shipping would be like 70 bucks because it weighs like 150 pounds.

WOAH! I almost missed this... Is that car the same color as my truck is?

I though that was a one of a kind thing.
