Known Airports with Wireless Access available, please provide info:

Okay the Airport thread never really seemed to take off. We kind of got lost in the theory and potential and didn't focus on the actual posting of known AP's at Airports.

I would like to create a list at least of major airports that offer Wireless. If anyone is uncomfortable with listing specific AP info that is less important then just knowing which airports and in what terminals access is available AND when this was checked.

For instance I know that while I was at DFW around September 9th they head Wireless in I believe Terminal A. But when I flew back through Chicago on the 16th I didn't see any access.

I am interested in knowing if Airports are going to stop wireless access now due to the 11th tragedy or if they will continue to offer the service.

Anyone else have known airports they have been to recently?

Spoke with someone around Nov 1, 2001 that said they used an Cisco 802.11b network at San Jose. Something like $6 per day for unlimited access.

Well.. I know Singapore was free 802.11b access for over a year now.. I used it, and it was pretty fast access..
Amsterdam (The Netherlands) has also 802.11b access, but it's expensive..

Hope it helps..

The Airport authotity in Brazil just announced free wireless in all major brazilians airports.
The main one in Sao Paulo already has it ( i will let you know in a couple of weeks ;-)

I also confirm that DFW is not giving access any more. I was there in Oct and couldn't get any signal at all.

Hi.

The Airport in Frankfurt/Main (Germany) also has wireless access, at least within the Airport Club Lounge (you need to be member to get access to this area - membership is about 1250$/year afaik). And there seems to be a wlan used to connect those lonely standing checkin-terminals of Lufthansa to the wired network.

I know boston's logan airport does. Im not sure how extensive it is or anything.. but this raises a question for all airports...
would you risk stumbling in airports (the terminals, parking lots, etc) with the now high (and paranoid) security measures due to the 9/11 attacks? I can imagine airport security catching you with stumbling gear, you'd probably be charged with consiring with terrorists, when you simply want to stumble! especially in boston.. anyone got any ideas/expirences to share stumbling airports? (and no not the apple kind)

An Amsterdam...

there should be a network in/around the Airtran gates... AirPath Wireless (www.airpathwireless.com) has a deal with AirTran in about 20 cities for 802.11b networks at the gates which are being/are installed now

MSP has it...

Hey, Stranger! My mother (of all people) FAXed me an article from the Mpls Star-Trib on 3/21/02 saying that wireless is up on concourses C-F at Mpls/St.Paul Airport. The article also says access is free until 4/30/02. Costs will be $7.95/day for unlimited access after that.

Ya, sure, youbetcha! I'm a Minnesota boy... Just got out of there cuz the winters were so bad :-)

Now I'm stumbling around Atlanta, Y'all...

I just - March 21 - had a 2 hour layover at MSP, after 4 days in Necedah without net access, it would've been nice to check my mail - got another 3 flights to make it home, including a 7 hour layover in POS and I can pretty much guarantee there's no 802.11b there

Now I can

do something besides twiddle my thumbs and stare blankly at my gps, a book or magazine for 2-3 hours just because thats what you do when you're told to show up 2-3 hours in advance to not be late due to the new airport proceedures. Luckily I have not had to deal with flying since 9/11 but I know there are a few chances for me to fly this year. Including vacationing.
