Ethertype 8781?

I am doing some network traffic analysis on a copper network and found a node advertising itself out as an Intel Pro/Wireless 2011 LAN. I wasn't looking for 802.11 equipment in my audit, but I now have the task of figuring out what it is. Any idea how I can determine if it's a NIC, AP, etc off of a sniffer trace alone?

The Intel 2011 line isn't exclusive to one product -- it includes PCI cards, USB NICs, and APs -- so I can't tell by the product name itself what it is. One thing that may help is that it is sending advertisements using Ethertype 8781. Not sure if that is AP specific or not...?

Thanks,

twistedx

Google is your friend.......

Congrats... You have found an AP!!!!!

Hope you are using managed switches, this will make finding
the AP easier. If not, it's gonna take a while...

Good Luck...
