Amusing SSIDs

My favorite part of stumbling is the social aspect. What sort of people buy wireless equipment? What sort of people configure it securely? Commercial APs are more likely to be Cisco, residential APs are usually Linksys. College towns use WEP much more often than other areas. This fascinates me.

I'm also amused by some of the SSIDs people set. Here then for your enjoyment and perusal are some of the more interestingly-named networks I've found. I've rounded the lat/long coordinates to discourage abuse, all other attributes are unchanged. I got a particular kick out of "HackerDetected". College towns are definitely more risk-aware than the average bear.

What have you stumbled across that gave you a chuckle, or really made you worry?

Hell, with an SSID of Netstumbler I would've brought a pizza over!

I'm thinking of changing my SSID to my (old junk cell) phone's number, so anyone who finds it can call me.

I was going to put a WAP in my car so other stumblers would find me while driving. Putting a cell phone or license plate number would be a cool SSID for that.

How about xx.xxxx yy.yyyy (CRM114 818-555-1212 Netstumblers Bring Pizza!)

I saw a guy with a 2.4GHz antenna (looked like it!) on his car today, but he didn't have a GPS so I don't think he was stumbling. Unfort, I didn't have NS running at the time (for shame.)

There's an AP in Tyson's Corner VA called TH15_5M0K35 or something... strong signal I had for a mile or so.

a little 1337-speek makes a good SSID.

TECOTA---My favorite. Means "Technological Center Of America" It is one of 2 NAPs in Miami, FL. This NAP is owned by Terremark and and in open carrier NAP. Anyway, after a tour of the facility and all their biometric security, I went to my van and printed out NS logs showing that I was on their internal network. 8P I guess they didn't think that RF would go through walls. LMFAO Go to www.tecota.com or http://www.napoftheamericas.com If you go to the latter, look at the image name of the pic and you'll see it says tecota.jpg.

Hey, we have a few of those MSFTWLANs all the way over here in Oregon...detected 4 of them at their regional training center. Wouldn't it be funny if all of them used the same WEP key...:L
