I have 2 external antenna's... One yaggi, and one omni-directional. I have pics of the yagi up on my site.... My gear.. I just got some new stuff so i'll be updating it tonight. Both antenna's work great, so i dont think you could go wrong w/ either one.

Well, Nor-Cal is growing so a few of us have started work on Nor-Cal wireless users group, which would be a collective of wifi users/wardrivers in nor-cal. I also proposed a meeting to take place in sacramento one weekend, so all of us could meet and talk over things. Email me with suggestions.

anyone have an detailed maps of unencrypted access points in the Sherman Oaks, Encino area. most of what i have seen for L.A. maps are focused on the West L.A. area.

Sounds great. Sac is only a bit of an hour drive from here, depending on traffic. Let us know when you plan on getting a meeting together.

Got my laptop, Orinoco Gold, Netstumbler and a cup of coffee. Just cruzzin through Irvine and Newport Beach neighborhoods gives you soo many APs it's not even funny. Just driving on Culver between 405 and 5 gave me at lease 30 AP and only 4 of them were locked :) So i'm just trying to hold myself from abusing the power :)
Hey guys, what happened to quiry page, that allowed you to see all the marked maps, it seems like its been down for a while?

Another OCer :)

Feel free to check over these OC stumbling stories :)

Another Ocer here! I'm in central OC. Went wardriving for the first time a little over a month ago and I love it. I am usually by myself, so I crank the tunes and just enjoy the ride while my stumbling rig does the rest!

Since getting my Orinoco card, I've started to become a little obsessed with stumbling around here. Lucky for me, I'm currently working for the county schools as a substitute teacher, so I'm often sent out to schools in the middle of nowhere.

There are points all over Stanislaus county. Far more then I would have guessed. I love driving down little poorly paved roads with endless dairy and sheep farms, and discovering some farmer has a WAP running. It makes up for the otherwise very dull (and smelly) drive. Also, going into the 'downtown' of some 'town' (nothing more then two rural routes intersecting with a few buildings), and having the computer light up.

I'm also discovering that here in Modesto, I can almost always pull of a main street into a neighborhood and find live points. There has to be at least 700-800 in this town alone.

There also appears to be some sort of WISP running here, with very powerful points (I can see them for miles). Very neet.

So far I've found around 250 points in the county, with about 100 of them 'new' in the Wigle database.

I'm looking at taking a day trip up to Stockton to do some driving, and am still up for meeting up in Sac.

Well, I the world wide wardrive 3 is coming up, so I was gonna try and get some of us Nor-Cal guys together. I was thinking maybe a restaurant in Old Sac, any other ideas are welcome.
