CA San Jaoquin/Central Valley

I've seen the posts on the NorCal (Sac) and SF/East Bay stumblers, but wonder if anyone is down and out in the Valley.

There are quite a few APs out here. Take a look at wigle or wifimaps coverage of Modesto (I've done quite a bit of driving around here). There are quite a bit of APs for it being a little hick valley town. A few weeks ago I was on a little vacation down in Bakersfield. Before the databases had about a dozen points mapped in the town. There are a few more now.

I'd like take a day and go down to Fresno -- virtually empty on the databases, or Stockton.

I've also had a little fun in the smaller bay area 'bedroom communities'. Lot's of APs in the homes of SF and San Jose commuters (check out Tracy, for example).

I still want to get up to Sac at some point to meet with the NorCal drivers, but am hoping there might be a few down here.

The Nor-Cal WWWD is on, I am starting to get people together and ready to stumble. The idea of this is to map more of nor-cal which has been a mostly untouched place by wardrivers. If you are intrested in being envolved pm me. The website is already up go check it out. http://ck3k.stotan.org/wwwd.html

I have been meaining to go wardriving again, I have hit the valley many of times. I might be able to come down to modesto one of these days, to see whats up. I also will be basing the WWWD in sacramento, that will be one hell of a mapping.

Sounds like a plan. Oddly enough, I noticed you are right next to me on the wigle stats page. (601 vs 609 aps).

I've driven almost all of Modesto, so I'm not sure how many new APs there are to be found. I've also done a good deal of Turlock.

The next logical place to hit would be Stockton. For a town that size, there has to be quite a few more APs. (I've just driven around for a few minutes downtown there).

Of course, sign me up for the Nor Cal WWWD. By that time I should have my external antenna up and running. I'm looking foward to it.

Send me a PM with some contact info. I look forward to the WWWD. It is funny that we happen to be next to each other, I will make sure to update the WWWD page within the next day or so. I am currently getting together all my wifi cards, if you are interested in my stumbling setup, check out my site http://ck3k.stotan.org I am hopeing by the WWWD to have a few directionals and at least 2 gps units. I also was going to attempt and setup a small meeting of wifi gurus, so if you know any other intrested people, invite them....:D

You have a chance to win a prize.
See web site for details.

Note: www3 is not about prizes or contest. I'm only throwing in something to get our area together rather than everyone doing their own thing. Plus it will be fun doing it as a group.

=)

vtocsearch:
Thanks for organizing our area drive. The zip file is on it's way to you.
Thanks to the WarGlue creators for giving me an easy way to merge my ns1 files with my Kismet files!

My stats for the week:
2017 total AP's found
1668 useable AP's (effing gps! I lost 349 because of missing or bad coordinates...)
Out of 1668, only 630 (38%) had WEP enabled, and 225 were still set to the default SSID.
