I was in SB a few weeks ago, but only found about 6 APs on the 101. I didn't do a lot of surface street driving except along Cabrillo Blvd.

This was with my stealth-mode range-extender antenna (in the back window of my truck.)

That's too bad. Well you can count my apt as a new AP now :)

Anyone in the San Bernardino area? I'm getting an iPAQ rig together. Haven't seen many entries for AP coverage of this area in the databases, but there will be some added soon... by me!

I am in Orange and there are many many many AP's here, just hope on the local freeway and drive for a few minutes and you'll get about ten.

I have a nice overhead photo of Disneyland and some of surrounding anaheim. I'd love to drive the area and walk the park (pass holder).

I guess I'd need a garmin gps for walking though. Mine only works with a 12V lighter plug in a car (pharos gps).

You could use a battery...

I have a 12v smallish battery that I use for portable high-power applications. I can run an in-car 900MHz amplifier for a couple hours on this battery. (used for CDPD *anywhere*) Maybe you could do that with your setup.

Check out a picture at: http://www.batteryworld.com.au/v1/Produ ... d-acid.htm

Or buy a Garmin E-trex and 2 AA's and return it in 29 days.

cheapest one yet... I'm definately getting the $39.99 one. This will fit perfect in the board holder on my backpack.
