I'm in Chariton, there are about 50 AP's broadcasting their SSID's here and more every week. Only two or three have encryption turned on.
I have an Alvarion Breezenet (Orinoco clone) PCMCIA and a Pacific wireless 5.5dbi super cheapie mag mount antenna. Nothing fancy but it works.

I'm Mason City, myself. Tons of open APs here.

Hey whats up? I think I really am the only stumbler in the state of Iowa. It's kinda sad. Well, just thought I'd post something for the hell of it just to see if anyone replies. Later.

Your wish is my command, reply below:

Next time read the goddamn sticky post at the beginning of this forum with respect to starting new threads when one already exists. Do you have any fucking idea how long it took me to clean this forum up?

...and it's obvious by the length of this particular thread that you are NOT the only stumbler in the state.

yeah yeah yeah, I didnt even notice this thread. I guess I didnt look hard enough. Sorry to ruffle your feathers. Anyway, I'm from Dubuque, and while i may not be the only stumbler in iowa, I might be the only one in dubuque. Waiting on an orinoco card and parts for an antenna...found plenty with my wg511 already, and found a lot tonight when I went out.

I can tell you from organizing the WWWD1-3 events that IF there are Stumblers in Iowa, they don't like organizing together. Each of the events I coordinated were what I would consider failures, to the degree where I have ceased subsequent efforts.

Ok, first of all, I drove all the way across Iowa and found about 200 APs. On top of that you guys need to learn how to drive. We passed a wrecked rig about every other mile. I didn't think Iowa was that boring that you needed to sleep through the entire state while you were trying to drive. On top of that, someone wrecked an entire truck load of Heineken. :(

Not to mention, everything out there was flooded. I felt like I was in Atlantis

That ends my flame on the entire state of Iowa.

That's about what the beer part looked like, but they drove the truck off about a 30 foot drop off. It wasn't on the road.

I'm in Iowa and I can find 200 APs in a few minutes. Must be your setup... ;)
