kmotion, where exactly are you located? I'm in sterling heights and agree that metro detroit stumbling rocks. I'd really like to start meeting up with some fellow stumblers around here. Would anyone be interested? I used to attend 2600 meetings frequently but it's a hike for me to travel to ann arbor all the time, especially now that i have a lease! $$$

M59 has quite a few ap's but metro parkway in troy is a freakin goldmine. I've found a few ap's that are quite interesting upon further "exploration". If anyones interested in meetin up send me an email sh00t3r@hushmail.com. See ya.

Sh00t3r:

I'm a western Wayne county puke. Right on the Westland Canton border. Like the M59 corridor you had talked about, the Canton and Ann Arbor areas have a ton of APs.

The area of Canton I've been hitting is all new housing and has the WLAN demographic written all over it. Most of the homes are $300K plus and their owners have a little toooo much free time and cash on their hands. The result? Poorly implemented WLANS.

As you can guess, Dearborn's also a very hot spot. While Canton's mostly residential, Dearborn's a got decent business representation as well.

I've been stumbling with another guy from work and we've racked up 2,119 APs to date. Most of those are Metro Detroit (Dearborn, Dborn Heights, Southfield, Livonia, Westland, A2, Novi, Redford, Farmington, Bloomfield), but we have made some trexs to Lansing, Kalamazoo, and Chicago.

If you'd like a map, or would like to trade NS1 files, drop me a line at kwhruska@comcast.net.

I don't get up past Troy all that much and I'm looking for someone with some carnal knowledge of that area to help us fill in the blanks on the north side of the Metro map.

Was up in Utica this past weekend... On my way home I took M-53 down to 18 mile over to Mound, then down to 696W... Found some good ones... It was really kind of amusing as when I went by Motorola (on 696, just before the 94 turn off) about 4 of their AP's showed up... their SSID's are MOTO... ok, is it me or is that pretty stupid?

bwsaloum,

I've seen those AP's as well. I'm from Sterling Heights and I've pretty much stumbled the entire macomb / oakland county area. I lost all my NS1 files on my old laptop I had to give to work, so I'm in the process of restumbling with GPS this time. Kmotion has a TON of recorded AP's.

I'd like to get a local group of stumblers together but I'm not sure if there are enough of us here in Michigan. Even if not I'd like to get together with Kmotion sometime and if your interested let me know. cool. see ya

hi all
right now (for the next month or so) I'm in Harrison Twp, right near the end of 16mile(Metro Parkway) at the end near Metro Beach. I'll soon be moving to Howell tho. I have a buddy in Waterford, near 59 and Pontiac Lake. I believe he has a pretty good list going on out there. I'll be getting a temp Orinoco Gold this sunday, and will start then myself. In a couple weeks I should have the money for my own card, and will prolly pick up one of the Breezenet deals. I'd love to get together with some people in the area for this.

I'm gonna setup a meeting for us michigan folks when I return from DCX. Anyone that has any idea's for a meeting location, time or any other pertinent details feel free to post. I'm willing to have the meeting at my house, in Sterling Heights. Or we could meet at some restaurant, etc.

I've always felt that Clarkston is the most centralized location in the state

Not that I'd be able to attend or that you care but it would make it easier for me.

Is there anywhere in the area that you guys are sourcing your parts from for antenna's ? Specifically brass rods and pipe ? Anywhere special ? What about the N connectors ? Anybody buy bulk and have any lying around to sell off ? since i'm a non-handyman n00b i'll prolly hose up the first few i do I'm liking the collinear omni lincomatic has on his site as well as Trevor Marshall's bi-quad.

Thanks

I buy my N type connectors from a place called K-40 electronics. Depending on where your at they may have a store close to you. Everything else is attainable from Home Despot or Radio Hack. Good luck!

Cool, thanks. I'll stop by there tommorow on the way home from work. You wouldn't happen to have a shopping list of what I should be buying do you ? The only thing I really saw at HD was the PVC, didn't see any brass stuff, lots o copper but no brass. Will Radio Smack carry that ?

mmmm well i really dont think that radio smack attack will have the brass, but slut depot should, just look around enough. When i was making the pringles way back when I had to roam about the despot for at least an hour to find that "all-thread" crap. lol. Try making a list and grabbing a sales girl. Is it me or are there a ton of hotties working at home depot?

What should be on the list ? Are we gonna have a get together ? Who in the area has made antennas ? Would love to get together with some other locals. Still need to source some N-Type female connectors. Will try HD tommorow morning. Anybody have any extra pigtails ? Sent fungus a PM but have not heard back yet. Haven't picked up an Orinoco yet, would like to get a pigtail for my mini-PCI.
