Well, given some of the laws they have passed in NJ, voyager's comments seemed to ring true. My favourite stupid NJ law is that it is illegal to stop and rest (ie, sleep) in your car at a highway rest stop at any time of the day. That's so the local motels can get more business.

No resting in rest areas

Actually, those laws are so the homosexual community doesn't meet in rest areas to do the nasty

For those who did not detect the sarcasm, my HTML tags <SARCASM> and </SARCASM> were broken.

Rutgers Camden has a wirless network, Im a student and I use it everyday. I'm a newbie to this stuff, but I think It's "secure" and password protected in order to actually get on.

First time I stumbled around, I picked up at least 30 APs only 4 using WEP. Most prolific AP is Linksys since Best Buy & Circuit City sell them for cheap. Around Cherry Hill, Marlton & Voorhees there are so many. I just got my 5dbi Antenna so I am sure to pick up more.

Toshiba tecra 8000
Linksys 54G
Win2K

Waiting for my etrex Legend and Dell Truemobile 1150 then I can connect my antenna

I stumbled down the NJ Turnpike from NYC. It seems that our great State troopers (SSID: NJPD) doesn't have any WEP turned on. Stumble by any barrack and you'll see what I am talking about. For example, there is one by exit 9.

Pitiful if you ask me.

Yes, I know. I have heard its just for transmitting APBs and bug shots and such. If they want security they'll just encrypt stuff with something more then WEP. All WEP is, is a "you're not welcome" sign. Anyone brave enough to sniff it and prove my theory?

I drive past 2 barracks almost everyday, but not willing to sniff government traffic and then brag about it on a publically accesible forum. I think cop laptops may be runing in P2P mode. When I pass 2 trooper cars next to each other I get a hit. Can't be a coincidence. Maybe cop cars have APs in them that get turned on selectively?

TCP/IP disabled

Yes, bad to access someone elses network let alone the cops. Anyway, tcp/ip disabled.

Yeah, i have a hardware profile for wardriving, no tcp/ip amongst other things. I'm sure how ever not everyone here follows that. I like to keep my hobbies legal. I only reenable tcp/ip at hot spots and at home.
