I'm around philly, like 25-30 min outside in the burbs... I stumbled philly last year a few times and logged around 200-250 unique APs in center city, but I haven't been doing much wardriving lately... AT THE TIME there were only 25% WEP'd APs... kinda nuts, all the companies and businesses w/ open networks...

Has anyone tried out here yet?

Mount Laurel, NJ area stumbler

hi!

i just got my stumbling setup off the ground recently. i've had a gps unit hooked up to my laptop that i play with on commutes to school (i attend NJIT all the way up in Newark eventhough i'm located in Mount Laurel) and have been dying to get my wireless card.

my order from FAB corp came today and now i have an Orinoco 802.11B gold card and a 5.5 dBi antenna that i'm dying to start playing with.

i'd love to organize an outing for the area sometime soon, who's up for it? (my place by the lake for free burgers, dogs, and beer afterward :-)

P.S. - something i still haven't worked out, though... whenever i fire up Netstumbler it seems to knock my card offline. i can scan for a second and can see my own AP as well as the APs of a few neighbors, but then my Wireless idicator drops to "no signal" and i completely loose connectivity. why would this be happening? i've tried both the 8.10 and 8.72 verisions of my card's firmware. and i'm running the latest version of netstumbler.

I'd be up for it. I'm an NJIT/Newark student too.

You can use only one because of the SSID setting. With old versions you used to be able to do both, before the card/driver upgrade I believe.

Next time don't buy an antenae, have the radio club teach you to make them or telecom. they build some cool stuff.

so, i could netstumble correctly if i disable my wireless connection before firing it up?

i'll give it a shot. =)

btw, i also posted my question in this thread here, as well.

when i type the string "ANY" into the Network Name field i can't stumble or connect to my home network.

is this where i should be doing the ANY setting?

Doylestown, Pennsylvania here... we were driving around today w/ 4 ppl and two laptops (2 operators, 1 driver, 1 onlooker), 1 gps, 2 wireless nics (1 dell truemobile, 1 linksys wpc11)... well first off, the truemobile was getting more hits then the wpc11 :P (isnt it an orinoco clone?) we have about 6-8 hours worth of stumbling (not all of us, just me and the driver) and I have about 180 access points logged (unique) all with lat/lon and such.

If you live in or around South Jersey leave a quick post, if there is enough interest it would be nice to get some sort of meeting together. Or one massive wardrive!
