I've done a fair amount of sniffing around SA, as well as one of my coworkers. Have a datacenter in a co-lo facility downtown, so get there fairly often. About the only major cities in Texas I haven't sniffed through is McAllen and Laredo. That's a lot of ground. :)

I have a laptop and an internal Intel PRO/Wireless 2915ABG card and also an external PCMCIA Linksys WPC55AG (Atheros chipset) card.

now all I need to do is get a GPS and I'm going to start mapping the NW part inside the loop of Houston

Welcome aboard, I've been working the NW outside the 610.
I'd highly recommend an external antenna if you don't have one or you'll be wasting gas and missing a lot.

Thanks for the welcome!

Actually I'm going to be riding a bicycle (which I do daily already) so the laptop is not enclosed anyway. Obviously, this won't be a rainy day activity.

I've already beat on that area pretty good using Kismet, so if you're running NS, you may want to reconsider your choice of software. ;)

Besides, I live in the north part of Houston not too far out from the loop, and I think Scruge lives NW...

Almost seems like a news item rather than a basic wireless question? Or even something for "Other Stumblers / Texas"? You have enough posts here that you should be getting a feel for where to post things.
