Hello group. I am in the Milwaukee area stumbling around.
I find it amazing that so many networks in the area don't have WEP on. Most of the AP's I find are Linksys with the default SSID.
Does anyone know about the AP's with the SSID surfhere? I googled it and found a thing about gas station Hot Spots but the gas stations (Connor/76) in the area won't talk about it. They say what is WiFi?
The other SSID I find all over the place is routeMI. I think it is for the WisDOT but I haven't found anything relating to it on the web.

Here's a map of the milwaukee area I made with stumbverter last year. I'll have to make a new one one of these days.

Yup...I fire up the GPS and let it get a good lock on at least 3 sat's before plugging it into/turning on the laptop and then set it on the dash up by the windshield on it's back and have had no problems at all.

I don't have the eTrex Legend yet it is in shipping right now (should arrive Wed). It was $161.49 at Amazon.com so I couldn't resist. I wanted a unit for fishing, hunting, stumbling, treasure hunts, and road trips which the Legend seemed to have all the right stuff at a good price. I also bought the data/power cable which was $33.
I tried an eTrex Camo before and it was a good little unit in the car on the dash. I didn't get to try it for stumbling. In the woods it was a helpful addition to a compass.
The Garmin eTrex line up doesn't have an external antenna port so you would have to hack it or go with a different type of unit if you need an external antenna.
G8tK33per Do you use a mount or just let it slide? I was considering the suction cup mount.

Well....right now it's kinda slidding a little bit but I can hang the power cord over the radar detector mount and it keeps it pretty stable....been too busy/lazy to break out the velcro strips and scissors and take 5 minutes to attach them in the needed spots.
