Using NetStumbler with tethered mobile as wireless adapter

Hi,

To sum it up:
* I've got a PC that has no wireless adapter.
* I've tethered my android phone to my PC in order for my PC to use my phone's wireless connection (this works, i have wireless internet access via my phone).
* I've Installed NetStumbler on PC.
* Getting the "No wireless adapter found" message within NetStumbler.

I assume it's not possible to do what I'm trying to do? If it's not possible I'd be interested in why, for my own educational purposes...if it is possible, is there anything else in particular I should be doing?

My guess is that I am able to use my wireless connection from my phone to my PC, but am not able to go back the other way from NetStumbler to detect other wireless networks? Or is it just a case that NetStumbler only works with certain adapters?

there are plenty of usb or pcmcia wireless adapters, fleebay if you like. even before usb, pcmcia cards were on laptops, just get one, as long as you have the win 98 install disk, due to the cabs were never coppied to the drive.
