Windows Vista and Orinoco Gold

Installed a Proxim card in my Acer laptop for Netstumbler since the on board Intell 3945ABG wasn't supported. Card seems to work fine other then it shows two Orinoco devices (NDIS 5.1 and Atheros) under the device tab in Netstumbler.

A search here in the Forums shows that there are issues with true signal to noise values when using NDIS 5.1. Just wondering if that is the only difference?

Computer is an Acer Aspire 9410 running Windows Vista.

Here is a screen shot.

This question is directed towards the dual Orinoco devices shown in Netstumbler and the difference between NDIS 5.1 and Atheros and has nothing to do with Vista as noted in the Sticky at the top of this thread relating to the Vista rules.

You're still not using a supported card. That's why you're not getting correct signal/noise values.

You mean I'm not using a supported operating system? Last time I checked the Orinoco Gold was one of the most widely used cards in the Stumbler world.

I didn't say I wasn't getting the proper signal to noise values, just something I read here using the search feature and wanted to confirm it by asking here. My main question is the difference between NDIS 5.1 and Atheros as it shows the same device twice.

The Orinoco CLASSIC Gold is the most widely used card. I believe the one you have is the dork card.

* sigh *
Your CARD is not supported. You have the newer PROXIM model. You need the CLASSIC card.

We have FAQ areas for a reason. Read these:

Like I said, you're not using a supported card. Oh! You're also not using a supported OS. :D

Judging by this thread, this season looks just like 2003.

If he had only taken the time between registering and being able to post to READ THE FAQ's.

Maybe this is mbolglian reincarnated?

Can't look too much like it. I didn't show until 2005. It only got better after I got here. ;)

By the way. Merry Christmas and Happy new year, Thorn. I didn't get a chance earlier. :)

Alright I'm busted, thanks guys. No biggy since I still have a Dell laptop with XP that Stumbler works fine on.
