For you throwbacks running Win95, Win98, WinME, Win2K: It should not work. It might work, but if it works, it's unintentional. I'm not doing anything to deliberately break those venerable systems.

I am testing mostly on Vista and 7, with a sprinkling of XP thrown in.

I was just kidding. Glad to see you're still alive.

w00t!

Wait, did I say that out loud? ;)

Seriously, this is great news.

EDIT: But then again, that means an influx of newbies asking questions they should have read in the README... ;)

That's easily fixed. Marius should just not include a README.

Outstanding..

Do you expect to see any changes in the ns1 file structure ?

If so, whats the earliest we might get our hands on v5 ns1 file schematic?

Guess this means I'll have to actually buy a laptop and dual boot it.

I first read Marius' post in a suspicious manner. Being that April isn't too far off. :D

wow, and I am in the process of redoing my kismet drone guide for newcore so this is very timely. I'm assuming your using kismet drones

wow, dragorn and Marius working together. That's like dividing by zero

NS1 file schematic: I think the new file format (file version 13) is pretty much nailed down. The changes are all to do with how GPS tracks are stored. I'll post something on the blog when I update it.

Kismet: this will support both newcore and old-style drones. I'm really pleased with how it worked out - so much better than using NDIS. It can work many ways. Examples:
1. Repurpose an old AP with OpenWRT, stick kismet_drone on it, plug it into a Windows machine running NetStumbler
2. On a laptop running Linux or OS X, run kismet_drone. Then run NetStumbler inside VMWare (this currently works) or Wine (currently broken)
3. Since you can now run kismet_drone on Windows (I haven't tried, but I'm sure you guys have/will; I don't plan to buy a Cace AirPcap either), there will be interesting possibilities there.
