have you had any luck, with the dwl650?
I have a dwl650 and had similar results, ie: locating only my AP.
I just remember after getting back , that if i set the settings to ndis5, i get better results, where it id's my SSID name.
I will have to try it, using this setting.
I also do not have an external ant, as of yet, so this might be very well my problem.

No, I haven't had any luck.. I was also thinking that perhaps an external antenna may do the trick. I figure I just may get the Orinoco Gold with the roof mount that I have seen linked on this site. Just need to scrape a few bucks together.
Let me know if you have any success.

Just as Stonedcrab hesitated to post, I also am running NS .3 on a "non-supported" card. I also, on a whim, D/L NS and was greatly surprised to discover that it works (sometimes) on my Windows2000 laptop. (NOTE THE DIFFERENT OS)
The problem is: I can not get it to consistently perform. Sometimes it will, sometimes it won't. (I have a nice map of my one local "good" drive.)
I'm going to experiment by regressing to the old 650 drivers and see if I can make it work again. Any others out there with the same symptoms?

just a tidbit
I am running it on XP using the latest release.
Last night I tried using an older version of NS, and it didnt even see it...
Changed my setting to NDIS and no change, however, my area has been mapped, and where I have drove, didnt have any APs.
I have a better idea of APs that are known and I am going to try that.
It seems i get better results(sic) with the NDIS, I noticed driving by one place, the light flashed alot faster, making me think, that it might be a hit, if I had an ext antenna.

Can you expand a little on
wont scan/do anything? What message is displayed on the bottom taskbar of NS, No AP's found perhaps?

try loading this driver for the card.
http://www.magiclan.com/product/magiclan/download/mlist.jsp
you might get NS to run on it or the utility with the program.

Sorry XP will not let force this driver.
I am going to try to see if I can find an old 650 driver that might work. Does anybody know if there is a major difference in the 650 and the 650 plus? besides the fact its 22 mbs vs 11 mbs i would think it should be backward compatable, but then you never know.
thanks
somebody must be using this card with some type of logging program.
ooops

Sorry Riptide
I didnt see the + on your 650. I dont think it will work, I haven't seen anyone getting that one to work, but keep trying. I'm surprised the samsung driver wouldn't go, I believe when I ran it, I uninstalled the programs for the Dlink, then ran the installation, it worked on my Xp.
good luck with it.
Recomended card?

I have finally gotten the D-Link 650+ to work. What I did was uninstall all drivers and utilities for the card. Then reinstall the card using the 520+ drivers (strange eh) version 2.0.0.3. It instantly picked up my AP after that.
Will have to see how many others it will see now.
Good luck.

Ok I tried the 520+ driver. the driver and software work with the card but still i get the error message that an attched device is not responding from the NS software. I did remove all other drivers and software pertaining to the 650+ card. I did force windoze XP to take the driver I wanted it to. What else might have you done to get the dwl 650+ card to work.
specs of my laptop:
sony viao p 3 1ghz
256 ram
20 gig hd
os: win Xp home
NS does see the card in the list of devices to use and yes it is showing my 650 + card as a 520+ when using the other driver.
What can I do ?????
help.
