etak pcmcia gps

anyone please know how i can get this etak pcmcia to work with netstumbler. It works well with microsoft streets and map but when you run netstumbler and set the gps to the same com port i get msg gps: error opening serial port

I have the pcmcia version which i have it switched to NMEA and have it set up as a modem on com4

anyone can help please

I don't know if you've managed to solve this yet but just in case heres how to do it. this works for XP and should work for 2k as well.

when you first insert the pcmcia card and windows detects it, select the advanced setup options (not the let windows search for a driver option) then in the next screen select the option to select a driver from the list. from the list selects a standard serial port.
configure this new port to be 4800 baud, 8 bit, 1 stop bit, nno parity and no flow control. oh and make a note of the port number that it has been assigned (for example mine was assigned as com 4)

in the net stumbler gps settings mirror the settings above.
voila gps co-ordinated should be appearing in the status bar at the bottom of the net stumbler window (provided you have the pcmcia card attached and the switch is set to nmea mode))

Um, you aren't doing something silly like trying to run Streets & Trips and Network Stumbler at the same time, with both trying to use the same GPS on the same serial port? :confused:
