linux in a window

Hi everyone, IM a total newbie when it comes to linux but im going to jump in soon and start learning it. Id like to be able to use some of the other stumbling programs out there like kismet and some of the other linux utilites...
I have a spare computer at home im going to eventually turn into a linux box but id like to get some functionality out of my laptop for on the road..
heres the question:
I found winlinux 2001 http://www.winlinux.net and it seem like a small flavor of linux that installs into windows.
instead of partitioning my drive and installing redhat or some other flavor ( I may do that after ive had more experience on the desktop test 'puter). would I have any problems running the linux stumbling utilities on such a small build? could they be run simultaniously as netstumbler??
My laptop is XP-Pro, 512mb, p4 2.2Ghz
opinions?
