I started using this distro back on version 2.2 (now its 2.8) and there are 3 derivatives
Normal
Gamers
and now LITE

Normal is a 2.5 gig distro (and comes in x86 and x64)

Gamers is a 4 gig distro, has alot of games in it but less utilities, its aimed at hard core gamers

Lite is x86 only, can install off a normal CD and is aimed at lower powered systems. I installed it on fairly powerful HP tower and it boots in 30 seconds and shuts down in 4.

But it is stripped of a lot of software so you can install what you need to keep it clean.

I will be installing it on a Dell CPX 500 mhz with 512 megs ram. Will let you all know.

I'm assuming the lite version still has access to the normal repositories for software? I use lower (read, crappy) laptops alot and something that's lite and still offers the Ubuntu 'shit just works' features I'm quite interested.

It's Ubuntu, therefore it's supported by the Ubuntu Fanboi's.

UE seems to have alot more themes, ( you can make it look cooler ) and right after the install you have a very solid machine with little or no additional software to be installed

Besides how cool is it to have a 96dpi rotating 4 blade arrow head AS your mouse pointer? :D:D:D

Render, I run UE lite on a laptop - pIII 500 mhz with 512 meg ram on a 30 gig ide and it is quite responsive.

plus the distro fits on a CD.
