Yep that's it.

"The state departments of Natural Resources (DNR), Culture, Recreation and Tourism (CRT), and Transportation and Development (DOTD) are partners in this project completed in June 2004."

and my first instinct was right on the money. I really enjoy when I'm right. :D

That would seem to conform to what he's saying about the layout. <shrug> I still think that it's something that they reaaly need to contract out.

I agree, I just don't like when someone comes in here trying to act like they are someone they aren't. I'm sure if he would have came in saying he wasn't sure how to tackle the situation and wanted some pointers on where to get information he couldn't find (as long as he was in the lounge), we would have tried to explain some stuff and point him in the right direction. Then he could have impressed his boss and got an Atta-boy.

Just forward the link to this thread to the director of that government agency... Or better yet, to the Lousiana version of the National Inquirer...

That's a good idea, you must be a thinking man :D.

Our version of the National Inquierer is actually our local news paper The Advocate. They are the only paper in town and have been for along time. You figure since we lived in a major city that we would be able to get another paper in here to get another perspective on news. It is also unspoken knowledge that there are certain reasons why this has never come about. Politics plays a large role in it. I personally think they pay off someone in the local government.

When I go looking at news stories, I usually hit several resources and also a few outside the states so I can get a more rounded view on the article.

I'm going to go track down an email address now :D

Here is the email I just sent out with a link to this thread:

Dear Sir,

It has come to my attention, in a rather sorted way, that there will be new technology integrated into the Butte La Rose Welcome Center. Specifically public Wireless Internet Access. To first catch you up as to what is going on, I suggest you read the following link:

http://www.netstumbler.org/showthread.php?t=19737

Being intent on providing free public access into this area for the reasons stated are more than admirable. I do think the person/persons charged with this project might be in a little over his/their head. Evidently, he was researching the technology(which he didn't understand) so he wouldn't look like a bumbling fool when asked more questions about how the technology should be deployed. Well, when you do a search for wireless networking, allot of the links you find point you to a very vast knowledge base known as the Netstumbler.org Forums in which I am a member. This forum is basically a help desk for the Netstumbler Wireless Network Auditing Tool. We do answer some questions about certain wireless problems that users have, if they are not trying to do something illegal. If you read the forums you will see that we can sniff them out pretty quick.

Deploying a wireless network properly takes allot of thought and planning to do right. There are case after case of theft of service, illegal use for various reasons such as child pornography and spamming thousands of users from an open access point. These are just a few of the threats that you need to address when planning such a large public project. It also stems that you need a great deal of expertise that the poster in the forums evidently lacks. I would suggest that if you are in fact considering such a project that you would find someone more reputable then a person posting their problem to be solved by the members of a Wireless Network Auditing Tool Forum.

I would also ask that you contact me so that I would know this has reached the correct person. If I do not receive a reply by midweek I will be looking for another email address to forward this complaint.

Thank you for your time,

'Signed'

Perfect. Makes more sense when it comes from one of the state's own taxpaying citizens, than from a guy located on a different continent. You addressed all the points I would have, in your e-mail.

Well done, so I'm declaring the remainder of this weekend for cajunbashing free.
Anybody who bashes brwrdrvr during this weekend, will be banned untill Monday 01 may 2006 00:01 AM UTC.
(Except from moderators... Any cajunbashing done by a moderator is pr definition well deserved :D)

Having said that, it sure seems like this should be an official state project, and if they don't know what they're doing, it should be put out for bid, just like any other state project. Doing it this way is half-assed.

Vast ideas. Half-vast implementation.

Thanks for the Kudos Dutch :D

Actually the badgering is the kind of thing we used to do to close friends in the Army. All day, everyday. I had some really close friends back then I could count on in any situation. I don't mind it at all.

So if it is not too much trouble, or you just enjoy seeing MikeP suffer. Could you not ban him? He should just get a taste of G8t's Bat :D

I've allready unbanned him. I just wanted to know that he'd go "Whaddafuck..." when he tried to log in, and saw the message that he had been banned until Monday 01 May 00:01 AM UTC.
And I just got PM confirmation that he did indeed go "Whaddafuck...";)

Is it Friday yet?

Where is my "I was Banned" t-shirt?

I didn't mind paying the reinstatement fee, but a whole case of single malt. That seems a little excessive.

/goes to sit quietly in his corner. At least until Dutch's bedtime.
