Yeah, soz. I was using a public account to browse and then joined to post, but i guess my cookies still pointed to the old username.

What or who is "soz"? Is that AOL-speak for "sorry"? If it is, stop it now. That crap isn't tolerated here.

Multiple accounts are forbidden. If you have a problem with one, you should have emailed the admins.

Which is fine since i only have 1 account. I dont have any problems at all. I simply dont like registering on forums i dont intend to post on/visit again. I registered for a proper account (curtosy since i was planning on posting) but since sessions are cookie based, it still had me logged on as a different user. Since i was unable to see a 'Delete thread' button, i was unable to correct my mistake.

If you needed a thread deleted, just ask a Mod, that is what they are here for.

On a lighter note, there seems to be 3 types of wifi cards out there, low end, mid range and high dollar. The low end's sometimes work but lack alot of the reporting you want, or lack range, the midrangers tend to be better in range and maybe have some of the features you want turned on (monitoring, SNR monitoring etc..) but in the end, the high dollar cards that do everything you want is what you will probably get.

Thing about the low cost cards is that once in a while, one will come out that is decent, and because its cheap you can tinker (aka crack that case open) and do some modding without fear of wasting some $$$.

I have a saying I tend to tell people about the PC tech world:
"Behind every GOOD PC Tech, there is a graveyard of DEAD PC's that died in the line of learning"

Anyone in the IT world will tell you that to be good at their craft they practice it. Even if it means a pc has to die, it does so in the line of learning.

The general problem is that more often than not you get a card that has say monitor mode and external arial, but doesnt run on linux (recent prisimGT cards for example). Then you get those that run on linux and have good range/ext antenna, but dont have rfmod mode (or is doesnt work on linux). Finally you get the cards that have rfmon, run on linux, but have shit range.
In my case the drivers also didnt work with aireplay, but Christoph was kind enough to add support after i mailed him my card.

Damn, you also get the cards that are not easily available outside the US.

No breaks. We have many people who are not native English speakers here. Proper English is difficult enough for them without AOL-speak. Read this:
http://www.netstumbler.org/showthread.php?t=12814

If you don't like that policy, feel free to go to an AOL chat room. People there will be speaking the same way, but good luck getting any technical information.

If you only have one account, how were you able to post as both bugmenot69 and info_5404? Both are from the same IP and it appears to be a private cable modem.

Actually the ip address is not real i'm using tor.

As for the account, may I suggest googling bugmenot? I might also recommend the excellent firefox plug-in which you might find can save you lots of time every now and again.

Of course I understand your point on multilingual users, however you might be surprised to find that in the last few years the internet has progressed quite beyond AOL and chat abbreviations are no longer limited to it. I do not use a lot of chat abrivs, only some words (such as the above) and a couple or others (that I would be seriously surprised were not known to computer users of other languages). You might also be interested to know that chat abbreviations were around before this world was plagued by the likes of AOL. Abbreviations such as 'soz', 'lol', 'lmao' and similar cropped up quite a few years before (though were not as widely known/used) and can be found occasionally of some archived BBS posts.

I would be only to happy to kill some time further discussing this with you, but it may be appropriate to create a separate thread so as to not go off-topic.

Why don't you kill some time and visit the welcome desk. While you are there you should try and understand the posts there. Once you have ascertained what is considered acceptable behavior for these forums feel free to participate.

You are quite clearly not comprehending the point.

Oh this is just great

Bugmenot

Looks like bugmenot is a site where people post the username and password for various sites for which they've registered using bogus information. It's all in their faq.

Looks like it may be time to ban this account?

People will create more, but that’s far from the point.

Bugmenot is a useful service which allows you to save time aimlessly registering on websites/forums which you (most likely) will never visit again. For example I wish to read some news site which requires free posting. I might only have limited time to do this (I might be at work). I do not have time to register on every site I visit just to read one article. Bugmenot simplifies the process.
The available plug-in can work transparently by filling in and automatically logging in to any website you visit which is bugged.

The system was originally created to reduce spam content sent to the user (some websites require a valid email to which they will send an activation link. Ergo spam will also get sent to this email). Over the years it's been active it's now including more sites (you will find most of the popular sites on there).

I am really surprised that you haven’t heard of it. Around here it's considered common knowledge even amongst the younger and more non-technical generation(s).

Oh as a side though, you mean there are actually people here that DONT register using bogus information? Wow.

Plus I understand the point about 'chat-speak' perfectly. I hardly use it as I said and I am rather surprised that one simple word used to commonly can spark such hostility. Fair enough.

*sigh* More work for the mods.

Now hear this. Any and all accounts listed on that site WILL be banned from now on. The site has been put on the daily To-Do list, and will be checked every day from now on.

Accounts using the same IP's as the accounts listed on that site, will also be banned at the moderators discretion.

People who hide things are most likely guilty of somthing. I think someone should close that site because it can be used for illegal activities and with all this terrorist bullshit around the world why help them more.
