Although not related to NS/MS, this is great reference material. This link was grabbed from Brighthand and was posted by Sooner Al.

Thanks, Al!

No WiFi sync with the new ActiveSync 4.0...

ActiveSync 4.0, when its released by Microsoft, will no longer support ActiveSync over 802.11b or wired Ethernet to a stand-alone PC, ie. a non-Exchange environment like most home users run. Fortunately, users of Windows Mobile 2003 SE, Windows Mobile 2003 and PocketPC 2002 OS devices will not need to upgrade to AS 4.0. Users of devices running the newer Windows Mobile 5 OS will be required to use AS 4.0 however.

FWIW, I think this is a big mistake by Microsoft...

Read some discussion concerning this issue on the PocketPC Thoughts forum in this thread...

FWIW department...

For those of you that have WM 5 devices I have recently seen a post on another forum that claims you can use a WM 5 device and ActiveSync 4.1 to wirelessly ActiveSync with a stand-alone PC if you do it through a VPN tunnel over your local LAN. I can't verify that since I don't have a WM 5 device.

So, as always...YMMV...

VPN Question for about a qtstarcom ppc6700.

This is the one that I own... I have used the "real vnc client" that has been posted on this site with no luck on my pda... have been looking for a vnc client that will work with ppc5 / winmobile ??.

Anyone have any suggestions as when I run the real vnc client it either locks up my pda or just preforms a full odd crash of things... I am running the Tight VNC server on the said computer that I wish to controll (of course my personal system) but can not use the Java page that is built in as there is no java built into the version of IE that comes with it. So I guess that you could say that I am really either stuck or lost... I have looked for the JVM hack for it and to no avail have not found one... not even a jvm or j2m runtime that I can install so that I can take advantage of the java front end for it....

suggestions please.

I have tryed this and nothing has worked the only other thing that I can think of to do is to try a copy of server 2k3 but personally don't want to spend that amount on a personal copy... any other vnc suggestions?

I install Ultra VNC (free opensource) on my PCs. For the PDA I found two freeware VNC clients. I especially like the integration with Microsoft login.

There's at least 2 free vnc viewers for the PocketPC that work well. I've only tested them out but one does screen scaling better then the other. I found them using Google.
