What exactly do you want to do? Let's try to keep the tooth pulling to an absolute minimum.
Treat your gun like your genitals, only whip it out when it's absolutely necessary.

What research made you think this was possible? Does the user's guide address this functionality?

Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote.

What made me think it was possible is:

"I got it to work with a Conceptronic C54RU USB dongle, using the drivers for the ASUS WL-167g, which supports SoftAP. This should work with any RT2500-based dongle, as listed here (http://ralink.rapla.net/)."

And no, it isn't addressed in the manual. However I know it's most certainly capable of being a SoftAP.

So brainiac, why didn't you test it then ? You got all the information needed to do so, as shown in the quote you supplied.

I did try it, installed the drivers fine, the softap client wouldn't load though. Said I didn't have the adapter. Any ideas?

and who said, "I got it to work with a Conceptronic C54RU USB dongle, using the drivers for the ASUS WL-167g, which supports SoftAP. This should work with any RT2500-based dongle, as listed here (http://ralink.rapla.net/)?"

I would start by asking that person for more details.

Yup. Exchange your RT2500 USB WiFi device with a Asus WL-167g device.
Problem solved. Thread closed.
